• Threadable lower platen. The bottom platen is open at the front so a sleeve, pant leg, bag, or the neck of a shirt slides onto it like a sock. The print area sits on top of the platen with the rest of the garment hanging out of the way, which removes seams, buttons, and zippers from under the heat.
• Bottom platen access. Platens now swap from underneath, so changing from the 6 by 6 to the 4-inch round takes seconds instead of removing the upper assembly.
• Four-platen kit included. The press ships with 6 by 6 inch, 4 inch round, 4 by 5 inch, and 4 by 4 inch platens at no additional cost. The previous kit shipped with three platens: 6 by 6, 4-inch round, and a Y-shaped platen for sleeves.
• Two-sided printing. The new platen layout is designed so an item can be flipped and positioned for a second-side print without re-threading.

Ben Robinson, Chief Manufacturing Officer at STAHLS' Hotronix, said in the announcement that "small-format jobs demand the same consistency and efficiency as larger production runs" and that the update gives decorators "greater flexibility for two-sided applications in a compact press."

Why a 6 by 6 Press Matters for DTF

A 16 by 20 clamshell is the right press for front and back prints, and the wrong press for almost everything else a customer asks for. Neck labels, sleeve hits, hat panels laid flat, pocket prints, small patches, koozies, and tote bag corners all have the same problem: a full-size platen either cannot reach the area without seams underneath or heats fabric you did not want heated.

The LowRider's threadable design solves the seam problem directly. Sliding a sleeve over an open-front platen puts only the print area under pressure, which is how you get even pressure on a DTF transfer that is 2 inches from a seam. • You produce patches, koozies, or small bags where a full-size press wastes energy and space.
