This guide covers the 2026 dates, what the forecasts say, which offers make sense for a print shop, and how to plan production so sale orders arrive before Christmas.
The 2026 dates
| Day | Date |
|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, Nov. 26 |
| Black Friday | Friday, Nov. 27 |
| Small Business Saturday | Saturday, Nov. 28 |
| Cyber Monday | Monday, Nov. 30 |
| Giving Tuesday | Tuesday, Dec. 1 |
Thanksgiving is on Nov. 26 this year, which leaves 29 days between Black Friday and Christmas. USPS Ground Advantage's recommended mail-by date for Christmas is Dec. 17, so an order placed on Cyber Monday has about two and a half weeks to be printed, pressed, and shipped. The holiday 2026 shipping deadlines guide lists every carrier cutoff.
What the 2026 forecasts say
Adobe Analytics bases its forecast on more than 1 trillion visits to U.S. retail sites. The figures that matter to an apparel seller:
- $275.1 billion in total U.S. online holiday sales, Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, up 6.7%.
- $47.5 billion during Cyber Week (Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday), up 7.4%, or 17.3% of the season.
- Cyber Monday is expected to be the biggest online day, at more than $15 billion.
- Apparel is the second-largest category at $51.3 billion, up 4.7%.
- Mobile is expected to carry a record 63% of Cyber Week online spending.
Adobe also projects a 130% year-over-year rise in traffic to retail sites from AI tools, which means more shoppers will arrive from a chatbot answer than in past years. Clear product titles, sizes, prices, and shipping cutoffs on a product page help a small shop show up in those answers.
Small Business Saturday
American Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010, and the U.S. Small Business Administration has cosponsored it since 2011. American Express offers free marketing materials, including signs and social media graphics, to participating businesses, and the SBA promotes the day as part of small businesses' busiest season.
For a local print shop, Small Business Saturday is the day to be visible in person. A pop-up table at a downtown event or a holiday market puts stock shirts in front of shoppers who came out specifically to buy local. The booth display and packaging guide covers setup for a one-day market.
Offers that make sense for a print shop
Big retailers can discount 30% across the store. A custom shop with transfer and blank costs on every unit usually cannot. Offers that protect margin:
- Bundle pricing. "Any three shirts for" a set price moves more units and raises the order size. It works well with matching family Christmas shirts.
- Free second print location. A free sleeve or back print costs one more transfer and a few seconds of press time, and it makes the shirt look more valuable than a percentage discount does.
- Gift cards. A gift card sold on Black Friday is cash now and production in January, when the shop is slow. It also solves the late-shopper problem: a gift card can be sold on Dec. 23.
- Pre-designed stock, not custom work. Limit sale pricing to stock designs that are already proofed. Custom art during Cyber Week ties up design time when the shop can least afford it.
- A clear order-by date. Put the last day to order for Christmas delivery on every sale page and post. It is the most important line in the promotion.
Before setting any discount, run the numbers. The DTF cost calculator shows per-shirt cost, and the DTF pricing strategy guide covers margin targets. Blank costs went up in 2026 for many shops; the apparel tariffs guide explains why.
Production planning
- Stock blanks in October. Popular colors and sizes of Gildan, Bella+Canvas, and Comfort Colors sell out at distributors in November and December. Buy the shop's top sellers early.
- Order transfers in batches. Combine sale orders into gang sheets every day or two rather than ordering one sheet per customer. The gang sheet calculator helps fill each sheet.
- Pad supplier turnaround. DTF transfer suppliers get busy after Thanksgiving. Check posted turnaround times in mid-November and add a buffer.
- Cap order volume if needed. It is better to close sale orders early than to miss Christmas on orders already paid.
Selling online
If the shop sells on Etsy or its own site, Cyber Week traffic is mostly mobile. Check that product photos, size charts, and shipping cutoffs read well on a phone. The Etsy T-shirt selling guide covers listings, and the sell shirts without inventory guide covers print-on-demand options for shops that do not want to hold stock.

How much will Americans spend online this holiday season?
Adobe forecasts $275.1 billion in U.S. online holiday sales from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, 2026, up 6.7% from 2025. Cyber Week is expected to bring in $47.5 billion, and apparel is projected at $51.3 billion for the season.
Should a custom T-shirt shop discount on Black Friday?
It can, but percentage discounts cut into thin margins on custom work. Bundles, a free second print location, and gift cards usually protect margin better. Limit sale prices to stock designs, and publish a clear order-by date for Christmas delivery.
What is the last day to order shirts for Christmas?
It depends on the shop's turnaround and shipping method. USPS recommends mailing Ground Advantage by Dec. 17 for Christmas delivery in the lower 48 states, so a shop must finish pressing before that. Most shops that buy transfers set an order-by date in early December.
