An Alaska shop that orders DTF transfers from the Lower 48 is now looking at 10 or more business days by USPS Ground Advantage, or 2 to 4 business days by Priority Mail, under service expectations USPS adjusted this fall. USPS posted a notice on Sept. 25, 2026 adjusting Priority Mail and Ground Advantage expectations for noncontiguous states and territories, and its 2026 holiday release repeats the 10-day-or-more figure for Ground Advantage to Alaska. Add free-shipping offers that stop at the contiguous 48, and the cheapest checkout option can cost a shop two weeks. This guide covers carrier transit times to Alaska, what transfer companies say about Alaska orders, handling transfers that arrive cold, and the DTF shops in Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley, the Kenai Peninsula, Fairbanks, and Southeast.

Carrier transit times to Alaska

Published expectations as of Oct. 29, 2026:

USPS Priority Mail2 to 4 business days, not guaranteedUSPS FAQ
USPS Priority Mail Express1 to 3 calendar days, guaranteedUSPS FAQ
FedEx Ground3 to 7 business days, to business addressesFedEx Ground page

These are statewide expectations. Off the road system, delivery depends on air service to the community, and USPS's Service Commitments lookup gives a ZIP-by-ZIP estimate. UPS publishes Alaska rate tables, including intra-Alaska ground zones, but its public pages do not plainly say which ground services run from the Lower 48 to Alaska for ordinary shippers. UPS Ground Saver, a contract service, delivers to residential addresses in Alaska at UPS Ground time plus one to two days and can hand packages to USPS for final delivery, including to PO boxes.

For a rural customer who only has a PO box, a supplier that ships USPS will reach it, while some others will not. DTF Transfers Now, for example, says it does not ship to PO boxes.

What transfer companies say about Alaska orders

Four transfer companies address Alaska on their shipping pages:

  • Ninja Transfers: orders shipped outside the contiguous U.S. may require an additional shipping fee, and Alaska and Hawaii orders typically take 3 to 5 business days.
  • Transfer Express: Priority and Express Mail are available for Alaska and Hawaii, choosing USPS adds an extra day, and its $15 flat ground rate covers the contiguous U.S.
  • STAHLS': the flat-rate ground program excludes Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories, and the $15 two-day program is for the continental U.S.
  • DTF Transfers Unlimited: free shipping is only available within the continental United States and excludes Alaska and Hawaii.

Most other transfer companies' shipping pages do not mention Alaska at all. When a page is silent, ask before ordering whether the free-shipping threshold applies and which carrier the package will use. Our guide to buying DTF transfers online lists other questions worth asking.

Transfers that arrive cold

Transfer companies' storage guidance focuses on heat and humidity, not freezing. Transfer Express says to keep transfers out of extreme hot or cold temperatures and to store them in a climate-controlled room around 68 to 72 degrees F, away from garages and crawl spaces. Ninja Transfers recommends room temperature or slightly below and storing transfers flat in airtight containers. None of the suppliers reviewed publish guidance on freezing temperatures in transit.

A cautious approach for winter deliveries:

  • Bring the package inside and let it reach room temperature before opening, so condensation does not form on cold film
  • Keep transfers flat and sealed until they are pressed
  • Do not store transfers in an unheated garage, shed, or vehicle

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to ship DTF transfers to Alaska?

USPS lists Priority Mail from the Lower 48 to Alaska at 2 to 4 business days and Ground Advantage at 10 or more business days. FedEx lists FedEx Ground at 3 to 7 business days to business addresses. Ninja Transfers says its Alaska orders typically take 3 to 5 business days.

Do DTF transfer companies ship free to Alaska?

Usually not. STAHLS' and DTF Transfers Unlimited exclude Alaska from their free or flat-rate shipping, Transfer Express limits its flat ground rate to the contiguous U.S., and Ninja Transfers says orders outside the contiguous U.S. may carry an extra fee.

Can DTF transfers be shipped to a PO box in Alaska?

It depends on the carrier. USPS services deliver to PO boxes, and UPS says its Ground Saver service can deliver to them. Some transfer companies, such as DTF Transfers Now, say they do not ship to PO boxes, so check the policy first.

Can DTF transfers freeze in shipping?

Transfer companies do not publish guidance on freezing in transit. Transfer Express advises keeping transfers out of extreme cold and storing them around 68 to 72 degrees F, so let a cold package warm to room temperature before opening it and pressing.

Where can I buy DTF transfers in Anchorage?

DTF Database lists Blue Moose Designs, Alaska Serigraphics, Shirts Up, ASAP Custom, and Kraken Shirt Company in Anchorage, Hi-Res Graphics in Eagle River, and Silvertip Design in Palmer. The Anchorage city page lists all of them.

Hawaii shops face the same shipping math; see DTF transfers in Hawaii. For winter apparel decorating, see the fleece season guide.
