What 19.52 Meters per Hour Means

Brother states speed in meters of film per hour, not square feet. If the full 31.5-inch (800 mm) width is used, 19.52 meters of film is about 15.6 square meters, roughly 168 square feet per hour. One dealer lists the system at up to 15 m² per hour. That is the maximum mode. Brother has not published a speed table by quality mode, and production modes with heavier white usually run slower.

For context, Mimaki claims up to 11.5 m² per hour in standard modes for its 800 mm class TxF330-800, and Epson rates the 64-inch twin-roll SureColor G9070 at up to 350 square feet per hour. Every figure here comes from its manufacturer, and each measures differently. Treat them as a starting point for a demo, not a comparison of shop output.

How It Compares

Prices are not like for like. Brother's dealer price includes the applicator and curing unit, and several competitors price the printer alone. Ask every dealer for a quote that includes the powder and cure stage, freight, installation, and the RIP license.

Installation Requirements

The DTRX is industrial equipment, and the site prep is part of the purchase:

• Weight. Printer and dryer together weigh about 1,458 lb. Check floor loading and plan the delivery path.
• Power. Both units run on 200-240V single phase, with the dryer drawing up to 20A. Most shops will need an electrician.
• Space. The printer is almost 91 inches wide and the dryer another 77 inches. Leave room to load rolls and service both units.
• Climate. Brother's working range is 64.4 to 86.0°F. White ink and film both behave better in a controlled room.

Who the DTRX100 Fits

The DTRX100 makes sense for three kinds of buyers. Transfer shops outgrowing a 24-inch printer with a separate shaker. Decorators who already run Brother DTG equipment and want one dealer and one service relationship. Shops that value a single-manufacturer printer-plus-dryer system over the lowest sticker price.

It is not a first printer. A shop pressing a few hundred shirts a week is usually better served by ordering gang sheets from a transfer supplier or starting with a smaller machine.
