Spring 2027 Marathons: Boston, Atlanta, Big Sur

The spring 2027 marathon season starts March 7, when Napa Valley and Los Angeles both run, and builds to the 131st Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19. Atlanta's marathon moves to a new March date and course, Nashville and Big Sur run the last weekend of April, and Cincinnati's Flying Pig closes the stretch on May 2. Race weekends drive orders for charity teams, running clubs, spectator signs and shirts, and finisher gifts. This guide lists the dates and the details organizers have published so far, then the shirt orders each race tends to bring.

The races in more detail

Napa Valley Marathon. Sunday, March 7, 2027. The marathon starts in Calistoga and runs down the Silverado Trail to Napa; the half marathon starts at Conn Creek on the same road, and a 5K runs out and back from the finish. The race site describes it as a Boston qualifier with a net-downhill course. Start times and field size are not on the site yet. Atlanta Marathon Weekend. Atlanta Track Club moved its marathon weekend to March 6 and 7, 2027, and its site promises a new course. The course map and start times had not been published as of Oct. 15, 2026, so wait before printing a route on a shirt. The 2027 event is branded Atlanta Marathon Weekend on the club's site. Boston Marathon. The 131st race is Monday, April 19, 2027 (Patriots' Day). The B.A.A. says 30,000 participants will race. In its acceptance announcement, it said qualifiers had to beat their age-group standard by 5 minutes 17 seconds to get in, that 25,630 qualifiers had been accepted or were pending verification, and that for the first time it would draw 1,000 more entries at random from qualifiers who missed the cutoff. The B.A.A. counted about 10,745 athletes who will be racing their first Boston, which is a ready market for "My First Boston" shirts. The B.A.A. announced a record 215 organizations in its 2027 official charity program. That makes Boston the biggest single source of charity-team shirt orders in the spring. St. Jude Rock 'n' Roll Nashville. Marathon, half marathon, and 5K are all Saturday, April 24, 2027. On Oct. 15, 2026, the registration page listed sale prices of $124 for the marathon, $110 for the half, and $75 for the 5K, with a note that prices can rise at any time. Many runners in this race fundraise for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Big Sur International Marathon. Sunday, April 25, 2027, at 6:45 a.m., point to point on California Highway 1 from Big Sur Station to Carmel. The race limits the field to about 4,500 entrants. The random drawing closed Sept. 2, 2026, and the Boston 2 Big Sur entry window for runners doing both races opened Oct. 14, 2026. Flying Pig Marathon Weekend. April 30 to May 2, 2027. The weekend includes a Friday mile, a Saturday 10K, 5K, kids' and dog races, and Sunday's marathon, half marathon, and four-person relay, all starting at 6:30 a.m. on May 2. The pig theme makes it one of the easiest races to design for.

Shirt orders each race brings

Charity team shirts. Boston's 215 charity partners and Nashville's St. Jude runners order team shirts and singlets with the charity's name, the runner's name, and the year. The charity supplies its logo and permission; the race logo stays off. Running club and group-training shirts. Clubs training for Atlanta, Napa, or Nashville order shirts for their long-run groups in January and February. Spectator shirts. Family crews at Boston, Big Sur, and the Flying Pig buy "Run Mom Run," "Chasing [Name] to the Finish," and "Mile 20 Cheer Squad" shirts. Printing on performance shirts
