The BMW Dallas Marathon runs Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13, 2026, and the Chevron Houston Marathon is Sunday, Jan. 17, 2027. Both have sold out their main races. The Dallas Marathon website marks every Sunday event as sold out, and Houston's general registration for the marathon and half marathon sold out in early August, with about 40,000 participants expected for 2027. Every one of those runners has family at the finish line, and charity teams and running clubs order matching shirts weeks ahead. For a Texas shop, these are the two biggest race-shirt windows between Thanksgiving and the new year.

This guide covers the schedules, which events still take entries, shirt ideas that do not need official logos, and when to order.

BMW Dallas Marathon schedule

According to the race's official site, the weekend has events on three days:

BMW Dallas Marathon schedule
DayEvents
Friday, Dec. 11Friday Night Lights Mile, a two-lap race around Dallas City Hall Plaza
Saturday, Dec. 1210K, 5K, 5K Team Challenge, 5K Walk, Kid's 100M Dash, Oncor Kid's Race
Sunday, Dec. 13Marathon, half marathon, half marathon walk, 50K ultramarathon, 5-person marathon relay

Sunday's races start at 8:00 a.m., and Dallas City Hall Plaza is both start and finish. Finishers receive a medallion and a long-sleeve performance-blend event shirt, and the site lists awards for the top finishers in 18 categories. Runners who race both Saturday and Sunday are in a weekend series that earns bonus medals and a custom finisher jacket.

The race's primary beneficiary since 1997 is Scottish Rite for Children, and the race's website says nearly $5 million has been donated to date. Fundraising teams for a children's hospital are a natural source of matching-shirt orders.

Chevron Houston Marathon schedule

The 2027 race weekend runs Jan. 13 to 17, 2027, with the marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 17, according to local reporting of the organizers' announcement on Aug. 4, 2026. The We Are Houston 5K is also part of the weekend. Organizers said general registration sold out faster than at any point since the pandemic, and expect about 40,000 participants, the most they have recorded.

Only the Run for a Reason charity program remained open when ABC13 reported the sell-out. Its HERO entries require a $350 donation to one of 68 charities. That structure produces shirt orders: each charity team needs matching shirts for runners, volunteers, and cheering sections, usually ordered in groups of 10 to 60.

What to print for these races

Race organizers and sponsors own their logos and names. Do not copy the Dallas or Houston race marks, the title sponsors' names, or the medal artwork onto a shirt you plan to sell. Original designs that name the runner, the city, and the distance are safe:

  • Spectator shirts with the runner's name. "Go Maria, 26.2" in original lettering, in bulk for a family or a club.
  • Charity team shirts. The team name, the cause, and a fundraising total. Check with the charity for its own brand rules before using its logo.
  • Finish-line crew shirts. "Dallas 13.1 Support Crew" or "Houston Cheer Squad" style text.
  • Weekend-series shirts. Fridays and Saturdays in Dallas make a three-day theme possible.
  • Cold-weather layers. December and January mornings are chilly at a 7 or 8 a.m. start, so a long sleeve or hoodie sells better than a tee. Our fleece hoodie guide has press settings for hoodies.

Color choice matters at a finish line. A bright color helps a runner spot supporters in a crowd, and DTF handles bright inks on dark or light garments with a white underbase. See the DTF press settings guide for the cotton and blend temperatures.

When to order

These are planning dates, not carrier promises. They assume you press in-house from transfers you buy or print, and that you want finished shirts a few days before the race. Replace them with your supplier's posted turnaround.

Dallas lands in the same weeks as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when suppliers and carriers are busiest, so order before Thanksgiving week if you can. The holiday shipping deadlines post lists USPS and FedEx cutoff dates. It also notes that USPS's temporary holiday price change runs through Jan. 17, 2027, which is the day of the Houston race, so check flat shipping rates before quoting a Houston order. Frequently asked questions

When is the 2026 BMW Dallas Marathon?

The 2026 BMW Dallas Marathon weekend runs Dec. 11 to 13, 2026. The marathon, half marathon, half marathon walk, and 50K start at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, at Dallas City Hall Plaza. The Friday Night Lights Mile is Dec. 11, and the 10K and 5K events are Saturday, Dec. 12.

Are the Dallas and Houston marathons sold out?

The Dallas Marathon website lists all Sunday events as sold out. Houston's general registration for the marathon and half marathon sold out in early August 2026, with only charity entries remaining at that time. Spectators do not need a registration, so spectator shirts are not affected.

When is the 2027 Chevron Houston Marathon?

The 2027 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon are Sunday, Jan. 17, 2027, with race weekend events from Jan. 13 to 17. Organizers expect about 40,000 participants, a record for the event.

Can I put the race name or logo on a shirt I sell?

No, not without permission. The race names, sponsor names, and logos belong to the organizers and sponsors, so copying them onto shirts for sale is a trademark risk. Use the runner's name, the city, the distance, and original lettering instead.

Where does this fit in the DTF Database?
