Marathon Shirts 2026: Indy, Richmond, Philly, San Antonio

Four big US marathons run between Nov. 7 and Dec. 6, 2026: the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on Nov. 7, the Richmond Marathon on Nov. 14, the Philadelphia Marathon weekend on Nov. 21 and 22, and the San Antonio Marathon weekend on Dec. 4 to 6. Three of them are sold out, and Philadelphia sold out earlier than ever in its 33-year history. Every one of those runners has family and friends who want spectator shirts, and running clubs and charity teams order matching shirts weeks ahead.

The four races

Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Nov. 7

The Monumental is in its 19th year in 2026. Organizers say it ranks among the 15 largest marathons in the United States and describe the USATF-certified course as fast and flat, which makes it a popular Boston Marathon qualifying race. Since 2008 it has hosted Olympians and thousands of Boston qualifiers. The organizing nonprofit, Beyond Monumental, runs youth running programs.

Shirt angle: BQ-chasing runners. "Chasing Boston" and goal-time shirts are popular, and so are family shirts that count down the miles.

Richmond Marathon, Nov. 14

Richmond calls itself "America's Friendliest Marathon." Organizer Sports Backers says the 2026 marathon field of 7,200 sold out for the third straight year and set the fastest sellout in event history, even after moving 1,000 spots from the half marathon to the marathon. The 2026 race is the 49th, and organizers say the event celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027. Race Director Meghan Keogh said Richmond has "carved out a spot among some of the nation's most beloved races."

Shirt angle: The friendly reputation. Cheer-crew shirts, "Mile Marker Party" shirts, and group shirts for friends cheering along the course.

Philadelphia Marathon weekend, Nov. 21 to 22

The half marathon and 8K run Saturday, Nov. 21, and the marathon and kids' run run Sunday, Nov. 22, with a free expo on Nov. 20 and 21. Organizers announced on July 24, 2026 that the marathon and half sold out about a month earlier than the year before, the earliest sellout in the event's 33-year history, and that about 40,000 participants from about 60 countries are expected. The course runs through Fairmount Park and along the Schuylkill River and finishes at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Shirt angle: Two-day families. Many groups have one runner Saturday and another Sunday, so "Race Weekend Crew" shirts that list both runners sell well. San Antonio Marathon weekend, Dec. 4 to 6

San Antonio Sports created the San Antonio Marathon to replace Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio, which ended in December 2024 after 16 years. The first San Antonio Marathon ran on Dec. 7, 2025, so 2026 is its second year. The 5K, themed "Holidays on Houston," starts at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. The marathon and half start at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6. All three start and finish at Hemisfair, and organizers say the USATF-certified marathon course is a Boston qualifier. When the race was announced in 2024, organizers described themed miles including a Fiesta Mile, Military Mile, Rodeo Mile, and Culinary Mile.

Shirt angle: Local pride and the holidays. Night 5K shirts with a holiday-lights theme, Military City pride for the many military families, and Fiesta colors.

Shirt ideas for runners and spectators

Runner name shirts. The runner's name in big letters, a short line like "26.2 miles of proud," and a bright color so the runner can spot the family. This is still the best seller. Goal and BQ shirts. "Chasing Boston," a goal time, or the runner's bib number. Runners order these for themselves, and spouses order matching spectator versions. Charity team shirts. Philadelphia and Indianapolis both direct sold-out runners to charity partners, which means charity teams are large this year. Teams order 10 to 50 matching shirts with the charity's name, which the charity owns and can approve. Running club shirts. Clubs travel to destination races together. A club name with the race city and year, without the race logo, is a simple repeat order. Cold-weather layers. These races run from early November to early December. Logo rules

Race names, logos, and title sponsor marks belong to the organizers and sponsors. Do not copy the official race logo or the title sponsor's name onto spectator shirts. Use the runner's name, the city, the year, and "26.2" or "13.1" in your own lettering instead. Order dates

Families often travel two or three days before the race, so plan around the travel date.
