Cricut's AutoPress 2 is a 15 x 15 inch automatic heat press announced July 28, 2026, and the first AutoPress that Cricut lists for DTF transfers. Cricut's press release gave a starting price of $349, compared with $999 for the original AutoPress. Cricut's own launch blog currently lists $379. The press reaches 410°F, applies up to 220 lbs of pressure, and has been sold only on Amazon since launch. On Nov. 4, 2026, it opens up to cricut.com and other online retailers.

This article covers the published specs, what changed from the first AutoPress, and whether a $349 to $379 auto press makes sense for a small DTF shop.

Cricut CEO Ashish Arora said in the release that the AutoPress 2 is meant to give the company's community "the confidence to get great results every time."

What changed from the original AutoPress

The first AutoPress, covered in our Cricut AutoPress review, has a 12 x 15 inch plate and a starting price of $999. Cricut's launch blog lists four changes that matter to a shirt shop:

  • A square 15 x 15 inch plate. Cricut calls it the largest heat plate it has offered. Most adult full-front DTF prints run 10 to 12 inches wide, so the plate covers a standard front print with room to spare. The placement guide gives common print widths by shirt size.
  • Adjustable pressure. Cricut says the original AutoPress applied a fixed pressure of about 50 lbs. The AutoPress 2 is adjustable from 44 to 220 lbs, and its Auto Mode adjusts for thicker items.
  • DTF on the official materials list. The original AutoPress was marketed for iron-on, Infusible Ink, and sublimation. DTF was not listed. The AutoPress 2 lists DTF transfers by name, as the EasyPress SE did in February.
  • A lower price. $349 to $379 is roughly a third of the original's $999 starting price.

Cricut describes the new press as using a slide-out tray instead of the original's hinge. It weighs 42 lbs. The original weighs about 53 lbs.

Is the AutoPress 2 good for DTF transfers?

On paper, yes, for low to moderate volume. Most DTF transfers press between about 250°F and 325°F, depending on the fabric, with medium to firm pressure for 10 to 15 seconds. The AutoPress 2's 410°F ceiling and adjustable pressure cover that range. Always use the supplier's settings for the film and adhesive in hand. Our DTF temperature and time chart lists starting points by fabric.

What Cricut has not published is also worth noting:

  • Pressure in a form other presses use. Commercial clamshells usually describe pressure as light, medium, or firm on a knob, not in pounds. Until there is hands-on testing, nobody can say how 220 lbs on a 15 x 15 plate compares with a firm setting on a commercial press.
  • Heat-up time and temperature recovery. These decide how fast a press can work through a stack of shirts. Cricut has not listed either.
  • Warranty length. It was not in the launch materials. Check the listing before buying.

Two practical points apply to any auto press. First, the 15-minute idle shutoff is a safety feature, but it means re-heating after a break. Second, the plate is fixed. There are no interchangeable platens for sleeves, youth shirts, or hats, so sleeve and neck-label prints still need a smaller press or a handheld press.

The AutoPress 2 is aimed at crafters and side businesses that press a few shirts at a time and want the press to handle pressure for them. A shop pressing dozens of shirts a day is better served by a commercial clamshell or swing-away, a dual-station pneumatic press, or a multi-station unit like the Hotronix Carousel. Our heat press buying guide compares those formats.

Where to buy, and when

From July 28 to Nov. 3, 2026, the AutoPress 2 is sold only on Amazon in the US. Starting Nov. 4, 2026, Cricut says it will also be sold on cricut.com and through other online retailers. Shops hoping for Black Friday deals should note that the wider retail launch lands about three weeks before Black Friday 2026.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Cricut AutoPress 2 cost?

Cricut's July 28, 2026 press release lists a $349 starting price. Cricut's launch blog lists $379. The original AutoPress started at $999. Check the live listing, because Amazon and Cricut prices change during sales.

Can the Cricut AutoPress 2 press DTF transfers?

Yes. Cricut lists DTF transfers among the AutoPress 2's supported materials, which the original AutoPress did not. The 410°F maximum and adjustable pressure of up to 220 lbs cover typical DTF settings. Use the transfer supplier's time, temperature, and peel instructions.

What size is the Cricut AutoPress 2 heat plate?

The plate is 15 x 15 inches, the largest Cricut has offered. That fits a standard adult full-front DTF print of 10 to 12 inches wide. It does not have interchangeable platens for sleeves or hats.

When can I buy the AutoPress 2 outside Amazon?

Cricut says the AutoPress 2 is an Amazon exclusive in the US from July 28 through Nov. 3, 2026. Starting Nov. 4, 2026, it will also be sold on cricut.com and by other online retailers.

Is the AutoPress 2 good enough for a DTF business?

For a home or side business pressing a few shirts at a time, it covers the basics with automatic pressure and DTF support. Cricut has not published heat-up time, temperature recovery, or warranty, which matter for all-day production. Higher-volume shops usually choose a commercial clamshell or swing-away.
